Among the first people to lay the first brick of the war of minds in warfare in the modern era,

is a man named "Charles Frederick Gurney Masterman".. or "Charles Masterman".. an English politician.. he entered the elections for the British House of Commons in 1903 and lost.

He was a highly skilled man of letters and writer.. and he was among those who supported England's entry into World War I, with his enthusiastic writings and his powerful speeches.. and as soon as that happened.. in August of the year 1914.. England establishes a propaganda department for the military called "Wellington House" or the "War Propaganda Bureau".. you can consider this to be the "morale affairs" of the English army in this period.. and they appoint "Masterman" as director of this bureau.

"Masterman" begins his work by searching for the best painters, writers and talented literary men.. in all corners of the country.. and he persuades them to work with him to support the country in the war.. and he indeed succeeds and brings them into the bureau.

Among the literary men he brought in was "John Buchan" himself.. the historian and man of letters and the fifteenth Governor General of Canada.. he brought in Sir "Arthur Conan Doyle", the creator of the character "Sherlock Holmes", and "H. G. Wells", the author of "The Time Machine" and "The Food of the Gods" and "The Invisible Man".

The fearsome squad he formed of masters of the pen had with them great painters of the caliber of "Paul Nash".. and in absolute secrecy they begin work.

The two warring sides were the Allies.. England, France and Russia.. against the Central Powers.. the Ottoman Empire.. the Austro-Hungarian Empire.. Germany.. and Bulgaria.

"Masterman"'s goals were specific.. first.. the youth.. there is no way that in wartime their minds should be occupied by the enemy.. this is the hardest and most dangerous part.

There is no way the country's youth should be with the enemy because he is brainwashed...! There is no way. The aware, intelligent youth is the key to victory.. even if the invasion has happened.

The team began to write and the painters to draw.. propaganda posters and leaflets.. "Buy war bonds and support your country".. these war bonds are something like the "Winter Aid" stamp that existed in Egypt long ago.. in exchange, the war bond goes to support the army.. "Do not cooperate with the enemy".. "Support your soldiers".

Remember the heroes.. remember the martyrs who died defending the homeland.. remember "Belgium".

"Masterman"'s leaflets and the war of minds he waged.. were not only against the enemies.. they were also against the Allies. To strengthen and support them.

"Masterman" launches out as never before.. and he addresses the minds of the young with everything that can stir them and push them to think.. to the point that he draws beautiful girls in military uniforms with phrases like "I want you with me in the navy".. and "I wish I were a man so I could fight for my country". The posters in these pictures.

A large part of "Masterman"'s leaflets was directed at the enemy.. while he was encouraging his own young men to enter the war.. he was encouraging the enemy's young men to do the opposite.. "Go back.. your wife/your girlfriend is waiting for you".. "You are a German.. why are you fighting for the glory of the sick Ottoman Empire?"

And with "Masterman"'s work something strange happens...

Italy suddenly joins the Allied forces in 1915.

And suddenly Romania follows it.

And Greece, Brazil, Portugal and China follow them.

And without any prior warning.. young men pour into the recruitment offices in these countries by the millions.. and an unparalleled sense and zeal of patriotism grows among them.

"Masterman"'s work has a tremendous effect that exceeds expectations.. even England's own expectations.. to the point that the Indian people.. who were resisting the English at the time and who were feared to revolt during the war.. the Indian people went and stood on the side of their "enemy" England.. and voluntarily offered it more than one and a quarter million young men.. to fight on its side.. because "Masterman" and his books and his leaflets convinced them that this was in the interest of the Indian cause...!!

Tremendous propaganda.. it invaded minds.. and subjugated them as it wished.

And in the other camp.. "Masterman"'s leaflets and his books and his and his team's drawings, which were distributed secretly or dropped by air on the Central Powers.. caused something strange.

The young men of the Ottoman Empire, already conscripted, begin to flee the army.. and migrate to Germany.. which suddenly finds itself facing a new burden.. of an army of unemployed men.. who want neither to fight nor to work.. to the point that they welcome entering prison with complete welcome.. as long as they do not die in the war.

The young men of the Austro-Hungarian Empire begin to doubt the goals and motives of the war.. all of this because an Archduke was killed.. fine, what is it to me.. why should I die?

And "Masterman" was charged with a new task.

For with the start of World War I.. the United States declares its position clearly.. that it is neutral.

And that would not do.. America had to enter the war on England's side.

America.. the virgin state that occupies an entire continent with its tremendous resources.. will make a very big difference in the balance of the battle.

And "Masterman" and his team begin a tremendous campaign to invade the minds of the leaders and decision-makers.. in order to push the United States to enter the war on the side of England and its allies.. the matter was difficult.. but "Masterman" succeeds in his mission with a sweeping success.. because one year after his campaign against it, and two and a half years after the start of the war.. on 6 April of the year 1917.. the United States officially declares war on Germany.

After he had exhausted all the parties and they had lost much.. suddenly a great new state with virgin resources and an army that was not worn out and drained.. joins the ranks of the Allies.

And "Masterman"'s role grows greater because the United States itself asks London for the assistance of "Wellington House" in the game of the war of minds.

And by the end of the year 1917.. "Wellington House" had issued about 600 books and leaflets in 21 languages.. and was distributing 4,000 leaflets a week.

And with the successful propaganda and the continuous strikes.. the German commander supporting the Bulgarian forces on the front, "Erich Ludendorff", declares that he is under severe psychological pressure.. and with his unfortunate statement.. suddenly Bulgaria's resistance collapses.. and it separates from the Central Powers.

And like a chain reaction.. a rapid collapse of the Central Powers began.. and Bulgaria was the first of the rain.. and it signed a separate armistice on 29 September 1918 in Salonica.

And on 30 October of the year 1918.. the Ottoman state surrenders.. and four days later.. on 3 November.. the Austro-Hungarian forces raise the white flag.. and the war officially lays down its burdens on 11 November of the same year.. with victory for the Allies and defeat for the Central Powers.

This is what the "war of minds" does on the ground.. and we cannot talk about the "war of minds" without referring to two men of the Christian clergy.. namely Father "Simon" and Father "Luca".. and talking about them would take long.

And there remains more to say.
