Khaleeha Tesaddi, and a new war on the government of the United States from the car makers and the oil companies.. people who do not care about national security a whit, who care only that their fortunes grow and swell.
And this time the government of the United States does not enter a direct war with its new opponents.. it enters a war in an innovative way.
Anyone who has travelled to America or Europe will understand exactly what I am going to say.. I saw it in the Netherlands, Portugal and Dubai.. in Dubai especially, your owning a car means, for the ordinary sane person, a catastrophe.. as if you were raising a dinosaur.. constant din, noise and annoyance.
In Dubai I was surprised to find there is a fine if you drive your car fast.. and a fine if you drive it slowly.. and a fine if the car is not clean.. and a fine if you wash it in the street or the garage.. and a fine if you do not drive it at all but park it in the street and walk away.. and there is a road whose speed is 100 km/h and suddenly you find a sign that it has become 80.. and a little later a sign that it has become 120.. and then it becomes 40.. and then it becomes 2 km a year.. and then 300,000 km a second.
And you have to comply, or the radar will get you, it will get you.. a fine if the car emits exhaust.. and a speeding fine and a slow-driving fine and a fine if you move from one lane to another without a reason and a fine if you buy a hammer and decide to smash the car and get rid of it and be at ease.
The fines are painful.. if you run a signal you find yourself paying 20 thousand pounds.. and if you park in the street without buying a ticket - there is no free parking - you pay, say, a thousand pounds.. and the traffic men can bring a tow truck and take the car away and drive off without any problem.
At first I said to myself: "Who is the one who set these stupid rules?"
And then, when I researched and read and heard from experts.. I discovered that there is only one idiot in this matter.
Me.
In this way he squeezed the car user as much as possible without entering into a war with the companies.
The very same thing the government of the United States did.
That is why I saw in the Emirates men from among the great businessmen, who have a fleet of cars, riding the metro. On the other hand, the metro is divided into classes.. first, second and third.. first is comfortable and its price is a little high.. and a second car for the second class, which is more crowded and cheaper.. and an ordinary class.
As for the buses, there are many of them.. and they are air-conditioned and you must be seated.. they do not take on more individuals than the seats.
And in the Netherlands, the chance that you are walking along and have an accident and are hit by a bicycle is a hundred times greater than the chance that a car hits you. The whole population rides bicycles.. and life there has been arranged accordingly.. of course the climate of the Emirates does not help that, except with certain scientific plans to regulate the temperature of the air.
The Americans, the Europeans and the Emiratis squeeze the car rider by every possible means so that he will abandon it for the means of mass and public transport.
And this is succeeding.. up to a point. Nevertheless, it still has a lot of work ahead of it and still has to extend the metro to the rest of the Emirates and do scientific work by which it improves the temperature so that people will walk and ride bicycles, and so on.
Squeezing car riders in favour of public and mass transport as much as possible.
Anyone who tells you to act otherwise is on the take, a beneficiary, a hired hand.. anyone who stands on the side of the car dealer in this position is "bribed".. any donkey who tells you "abolish the tram" and "build a bridge" and "widen the road" inside the cities.. that is a suspicious person.. he has an interest with the contractor and a racket and he has taken a bribe.
That only postpones the problem temporarily.. it does not solve it.. it makes it more complicated.. only after a while.
Abandoning the car in favour of public and mass transport is the latest and most modern thing that the sciences of transport engineering in the world have arrived at.
That is why you do not find in these countries a "tuk-tuk", nor a car called "x" with three wheels imported from India, nor this filth at all.. it is forbidden...
Widening the roads between cities, that is a correct and excellent work.. but inside the cities it does not solve the problem and is not supposed to happen except in cases of extreme necessity.
Imagine with me again.. all the passengers of the buses, the metro, the microbuses and mass transport in Cairo became able to afford a car and all of them abandoned these means and rode cars.. what would happen?
You would not be able to move, neither by car nor even on your own two feet.
The state.. the whole country would be paralysed.
And in America they also thought of a new game.
It was no longer acceptable for them to remain at the mercy of the oil companies.. and at the same time it became clear that oil was owned by an "enemy".. and cutting off oil could create a crisis and tip the scales of victory in a war.
So they had to lay their hands on this oil.
And America took the decision and began to carry it out gently.. until we were surprised on 19 March 2003 by American forces overrunning one of the most important oil producers in the world... Iraq.
This time they laid their hands on a huge source of oil.. and it was no longer possible to cut off the oil supply to them in any war.
Also, your enemy has changed.. you no longer have a border with Israel alone.. and you might isolate it while I make an air bridge that costs me billions to help it.. no...
I have now come to you myself.. and I am sitting right here with you.
Do you see how the subject of transport and the car is connected to so very many things?
And the car makers felt this squeeze.. and governments gave as their reason the cleanliness of the environment and other things.. so the car makers came out with a new alliance, with which they try to keep their sales going.. without any impact on the environment.. while convincing people that it is safer.
And we will continue talking about that later, and there is more of our talk to come.
