With the deep wound Lenin felt at his brother's execution, his emotions were thrown off balance, and no one hugged him or patted his shoulder except those same revolutionary groups.. so he finished secondary school carrying a terrible grudge deep inside him against the authorities, and then he entered university.
A while later they expel him from university because he was leading a revolutionary movement aimed at excluding the university guard (does that remind you of something?), and he was inciting students to demonstrate against the absence of freedoms inside the university.
He submitted many petitions to return to his studies, but they were rejected.. until Petersburg University agreed, on condition that he be a non-resident student.. with no attendance.. he comes only for the exams.
In that period Tsar Alexander III had made a great many reforms.. he expanded the powers of the "Duma", which is like our House of Representatives.. and he began to eliminate corruption, and in order to solve the peasants' problems he enacted a law under which there would be local Duma councils.. to hear these people and see their problems and start legislating laws on that basis.
Of course all of that makes no difference to Lenin.. he does not want reforms, the country does not matter to him and the peasants do not matter to him at all.
He wants revenge.
He joins a revolutionary movement called "Social Democracy" in 1894, and in the same year Tsar Alexander III dies and his son "Nicholas II" takes his place.
Two months later Lenin and that band of revolutionary comrades are arrested.. and a decision is issued to imprison them in Siberia.. but Tsar Nicholas was truly a kind man.. so he amended the sentence.. and set their residence in Siberia for two years.. in whichever town each of them chose.. and he decided on a monthly financial allowance for them.. and allowed them to write and receive visitors and provided them with what they needed for that.
In exile Lenin meets his comrade in the revolutionary struggle "Nadezhda Krupskaya" and marries her.. and after the exile period ends, he takes her and they travel to Germany. And there he decides that the fall of Russia will not be achieved by these silly revolutionary movements.. so he decides to establish an "international organization".
I wonder, does that remind you of something?
Lenin and his men kept working to broadcast despair, hatred and frustration among the people through newspapers, leaflets, speeches and the like.. their weapon in that was very simple.. frustration and "hatred".. Lenin's own comrade "Leon Trotsky" said it plainly:
"Hatred is our weapon to overturn the world".
Trotsky is the young man who looks like "Wael Ghonim" in the picture. When he grew older he came to look somewhat like a toilet drain clogged with hair.. so I chose a picture of him as a young man.
And in 1900 the Russian peasants and the common people carried a terrible resentment against anyone wealthy or educated or outstanding.. and they bore in their hearts an intense hatred for the Tsar and his family.. so Lenin exploits that and begins a series of workers' strikes and demonstrations and terrorist operations that paralyze the state.. like blowing up railways or the like.
He obtains foreign funding and publishes several newspapers in Russia.. among them "Pravda".. and writes countless articles.
And on Sunday, 22 January 1905, Father "Georgy Gapon" heads a peaceful demonstration to the palace of Emperor "Nicholas".. to present a petition of grievance.
This demonstration was indeed peaceful.. and the workers in it were raising banners of loyalty to the Tsar, and they stopped in front of the palace chanting his name.
But Lenin had reckoned well for this situation.. he had informed the authorities through an anonymous source.. that this march was armed with pistols and bombs and aimed to storm the palace.
And Lenin does indeed plant among the march a few armed men.. they open fire from the rear.. and suddenly.. someone unknown shouts at the same moment.. from the middle of the march.. that the Tsar has ordered the killing of the demonstrators!
And an extraordinary state of chaos breaks out, and with the pushing and the sound of gunfire, the Imperial Guard does indeed open fire on everyone, and about 800 of them die.
History has recorded these events for us under the name "Bloody Sunday". And the strange thing is that they resemble events that happened in England, in 1887, in a demonstration against unemployment and forced labour.
And stranger still is that this Bloody Sunday repeats with the very same details between the police and demonstrators in Liverpool, in 1911, during a demonstration by transport workers.
And it repeats in the "Everett Massacre" in Washington in 1916, between workers and the police..
And it repeats in Marburg, Germany, in 1919.
And it repeats in 1920 in Dublin.
And in 1921 in Belfast.
And in 1939 in Canada.
And it repeats to the letter in Ireland in 1972.. and it was also a holiday.. and also in January.. when people demonstrated against the internment law.. and while they were standing face to face in front of the English forces.. shots of unknown origin ring out, making the army open fire on the demonstrators!
And the same Sunday repeats in 1991 in Lithuania.
And Sunday 27 January 1991, in Somalia on the eve of the fall of "Siad Barre's" regime.
And Sunday 30 January in the Iranian revolution in 1977.
As if the planner of all these events.. is one person.
One entity.. or one party.
I wonder, has this event repeated in Egypt and Syria and Iraq and Libya and Yemen? Try to remember calmly and quietly and search. But remember too that "the repetition of coincidence does not make it one".
Let us return to our story.. the important thing is that in Russia.. after the matter became clear to them, the people remained determined that the Tsar had ordered their killing.. the truth is that the Tsar on that very day.. was not in the palace, and was not in the whole city!
With these events.. hundreds of thousands of the Tsar's supporters sympathize with the victims and join the revolutionary movements, and the Tsar loses a large popular base.
But after the events, "Tsar Nicholas" issues a decree that is dangerous and surprising for brother "Lenin".. capable of ending his dream completely and forever.
The decree contained two decisions.. the first was that he decided to transform Russia from an absolute monarchy into a constitutional monarchy, like England. And with that, you have no arguments left. And secondly, he issued a civil service law for the peasants.. under which the feudal class no longer had control over them.. they would own the land.
And suddenly the Tsar issues a third decision.
A decision of general amnesty for all political prisoners.
And Lenin was defeated this time.
But he does not stay silent.. he decides to plan another revolution.. and he waits patiently, until the First World War breaks out.. and instead of supporting his country, he begins with his comrades a series of new terrorist acts inside Russia.. that exhaust it and weaken it and affect its already weak economy.. because of the war.
And when the economy weakens and people's conditions worsen and their sons die at the front.. the people rise up again.. that is well known.
But Lenin notices that he is slowly losing his base among the peasants.. and during the First World War, specifically in the early months of 1917, he incites the peasants to seize their agricultural land by force. The idea here was that he would prevent the supply of the food the Soviet soldiers needed during the fighting.
But "Lenin" is surprised that no one rose up or moved.. because thanks to Tsar "Nicholas's" reforms and laws, about 80% of the peasants already owned their land!
And "Lenin" realizes that if this year passes without a revolution.. he will neither be able to bring down Russia.. nor become a leader or anything else.
Here "Lenin" resorts to a strategic plan to ignite a new revolution.. among which was "the Battle of the Horses".
And this plan.. and this battle, we will talk about them later.
And the conversation.. has a remainder.
