During the game of the war of minds, a Soviet officer trapped among corpses and rubble in (Stalingrad) meets a living infantry soldier pretending to be dead.. his name is (Vasily Zaytsev, Vasily Grigoryevich Zaytsev).. he waits until a German inspection car passes, then he gets up, picks up his old five-bullet rifle.. and opens fire on the car.

It surprises the officer that the soldier did not fire a single wasted bullet.. and that he finished off all five Nazis in the moving car, from a distance of more than 30 metres.. and he realises that this soldier possesses astonishing marksmanship.. so he takes him and introduces him to (Krutsiyev).. who is (Khrushchev) as we know him.. and they begin a new game.

(Khrushchev) attaches the soldier to the snipers' wing.. and he and his team begin picking off German officers.. and they print the army newspaper again.. it had stopped because of spending cuts.. and they write in it about Vasily's heroics.. Vasily's genius.. Vasily's tactics.. and they publish pictures of the metal tags the soldiers wear, so they can be identified if they die, and every day you find 10 or 20 Nazi tags published in the newspaper.

And (Vasily) suddenly turns into a hero and an icon in the eyes of the people of the Soviet Union.

The Germans, their officers and their soldiers, grow tense, so (Hitler) pushes his own snipers forward.. and plays the same game with the Soviets.

And one day a professional German sniper lies in wait for a Soviet sniper soldier.. and fires at his head and drops him dead on the spot.. and goes and tears off the soldier's metal tag.. and discovers that he has personally killed "Vasily".

And with the utmost pride the Nazi forces publish the news of (Vasily's) death together with his metal tag.. German morale rises.. and Soviet morale collapses.

But it turns out that this was a trick by the cunning (Khrushchev), who publishes a picture of (Vasily) two days after the news of his death.. holding that day's newspaper with the date.

And that was a violent blow.. because at that moment the German soldiers began to doubt the leadership.

And suddenly the Soviet army newspaper publishes that (Hitler) is sending in the best sniper in Germany, Major "Erwin König".. to hunt the Soviet sniper for them.

And a few days later it publishes the Major's tag.. and a picture of a German sniper rifle, and announces that (Vasily) killed him.

And (Hitler) almost went mad because of (Stalin's) actions.

The truth is that (Hitler) had no one at all called Major "Erwin König".. and the whole tale is fabricated and fake!

But this game raised Soviet morale.. and struck German morale a mortal blow.

And (Stalin) was following all this madness, smiling and satisfied.. because he had succeeded in his plan.

His plan that had nothing whatsoever to do with sniping, or snipers, or (Vasily) himself.

His plan was to wait for the winter...

And indeed November arrives, bringing the winter with it. And luckily for (Stalin) it was no ordinary winter.

It was one of the most violent winter seasons ever to pass over the Soviet Union in history.

The temperature dropped to less than seventy below zero.. the fingers and ears of the Nazi soldiers began falling off from the cold.. their eyes froze in their sockets.. and sleep meant death by freezing.

(Hitler) tries to supply his soldiers with what they need in food and heating fuel by air.. but the aviation fails.. visibility is nil.. ice storms.. and Soviet anti-aircraft guns working around the clock.

And with the severe cold the German soldiers began to suffer from hunger.

And with the extreme weakness of the German soldiers and the impossibility of supplying them with provisions in this weather, for the first time since the beginning of the crisis, (Stalin) moves from defence to attack.. and begins an operation he called (Operation Uranus), after the climate of the planet Uranus, the terribly icy one.

And in Operation Uranus.. (Stalin) pushes forward with a surprise that no one else knew of except a few statesmen and an elite of the armed forces.. while people whispered about it without knowing its details.

With the "Siberian Army forces".. forces made up mostly of street children and orphanage children, whom the Soviet Union took and attached to military training camps.. and who began training in endurance and fighting from a very tender age.

And since the Nazi soldiers could not stand on their feet from the cold, this climate was, for the Siberian Army forces, child's play.. they fought through it smoothly and moved in it with the utmost ease.

And the German Sixth Army is encircled.

And because (Stalin) had won the war of minds and had come to occupy (Hitler's) mind entirely, so that he slept and woke dreaming of him.. the latter launches a counter-operation called "Operation Winter Storm" to lift the siege on the Sixth Army.. and of course the operation fails.. and Germany loses in it most of its transport fleet.. and about 90 thousand soldiers of (Hitler's) forces are taken prisoner, having surrendered from the bitter cold, exhaustion, hunger and disease.

About 10 thousand German soldiers remain.. Stalin sends the Siberian Guard forces against them with air cover.. and many of them are killed and the rest are taken prisoner.. and the battle of Stalingrad comes to an end.

The decline in morale, the stupid ill-considered decisions and the insistence on error made (Hitler) lose his battles simultaneously in vital places such as (Alamein) in Egypt.. and his dream of controlling the Suez Canal.. the most important shipping lane in the world, was lost. And Italy falls into the hands of the Allies and (Mussolini) is isolated.

And by the year 1944 (Stalin) had begun advancing into Germany.. and the tables are turned.. and (Hitler), in despair, orders the burning of German factories and infrastructure in the cities the Soviets enter.

And (Stalin) sets a simple plan.. to destroy the morale of (Hitler) and his soldiers more and more.. so he enters Berlin with the Russian army on Hitler's very birthday.. 20 April 1945, and lowers the German flag and raises the flag of the Soviet Union.

And ten days and a few hours after this incident, (Hitler) drinks a glass of cyanide poison intending to commit suicide, but it seems he begins to suffer, so he draws his pistol and shoots himself in the head after his birthday and the fall of Berlin.. on 30 April 1945.

Scientists have studied very extensively the reasons for (Hitler's) defeat.. and concluded that it actually happened when he lost to (Stalin) in the war of minds.

And time passes.. more than half a century.. and we wake up in the year 2011 to new and strange givens in the war of minds.. which we will talk about later...

And there remains more to say.
