The dumbest spy in the world.. a title earned with merit by the Mossad man "Gamal Hassanin".

This is not his picture.. they found no picture of him. This is an edited image from the series "The Spy".

And "Gamal" was born on 29 October, 1941 in Cairo.. he holds a diploma in surveying.. he grew up in a simple family of 7 members.. his father was a simple employee in social affairs.

He works at the worst and weakest moments of Egypt.. 1968.. right after the June defeat.

And the truth is that the beginning of Gamal's betrayal, his rage and his hatred of Egypt was strange.

At first he was extremely patriotic.. seeking to join the army.. to take revenge on Israel and restore dignity and the land.. and all the fine, rousing talk you could wish for.

But when "Gamal" applies to the army he is rejected.. because of the "flat foot" he was born with.. this ignites his fury, his hatred and his rage.

And "Gamal" was romantically involved.. but his financial circumstances were not romantic at all.. and his salary was 16 pounds.

And the suitors and grooms begin to learn the address of his sweetheart's house and propose.. and she refuses.. and waits for him.

He decides to go and propose.. so they asked him to rent a house and furnish it.. and pay a dowry and present a jewellery gift.. and of course he did not have all that, and he was dreaming a dream full of gall: to sit with his bride in her father's house while he supports them until God makes things easy!

And of course her father throws him out.

And "Gamal" takes a six-month leave.. and travels to try his luck in Alexandria.

And there he meets a Lebanese young man.. who brings goods by sea between Beirut and Alexandria.. trading in them.. and this young man enthusiastically encourages him to travel to Lebanon.. because it is full of opportunities and an open job market.

And "Gamal" does not waste a moment.. and he jumps aboard the first steamer.. leaving Alexandria port for Beirut.

And on the deck of the ship daydreams of daydreams and riches engulfed him.. and the Lebanese young man was with him.. and he was generous and good-natured.. he began giving him food and money.. and this made him feel that all of Lebanon was like this.. and that people were millionaires.. handing out money in the streets.

And when he reaches Lebanon.. the Lebanese young man advises him to head to "Farouk Café" in Beirut.. a famous café and a meeting place for job seekers.. and advised him not to waste his money on trifles.. and to take any honorable temporary work.. and afterwards look for something better.

And they parted.

And "Gamal" reached the Mazraa neighbourhood in the south of the port.. and found a modest cheap hotel where he stayed.. and went straight away to Farouk Café.

And in the café he finds Egyptians, Syrians, Iraqis, Jordanians and others.. some of them providing work.. and looking for workers.. and some of them looking for work.. and an honest living.

Unfortunately no one chooses him or agrees to employ him for unknown reasons.. perhaps because he was gullible by nature.

And the few Lebanese liras in his pocket begin to dwindle.. and dwindle.

And before his money runs out.. he returned to Cairo.

And his sweetheart tried to urge him to work in a company or a shop in the afternoon.. but he refuses.. and decides another decision.

He travels to Greece.

And his sweetheart despairs of his behaviour.. and he goes to his work to apply for another six-month leave.. but they refuse.. so he resigns.. and returns to Alexandria to board the first boat to Athens.. with only 200 dollars in his pocket.

And in Greece he is shocked.

There is no work for anyone like him who knows not a sentence of Greek nor even English.

And this time his money runs out completely.. and he cannot find the price of a loaf.

And at the café he meets a Moroccan young man called "Simeon".. and he complains to him of his sorrow.

And the truth is that "Simeon" was not Moroccan nor Arab. He was one of the Mossad officers.. whose role is to pick up desperate young men and recruit them to work.. and he uses the Moroccan identity to hide the difference of his accent from Egyptians and Levantines.

And "Simeon" convinces him to sell his passport and report it lost.. and the passport could bring him 300 dollars.

And "Gamal"'s mouth waters.. and he sets off after "Simeon".. who took him to the Israeli embassy.. convincing him that he knows a man inside.. who buys passports.

And at the embassy he fills in an acquaintance form.. with questions about him, his life, his circumstances and his history.. and they actually take the passport from him.. and give him 300 dollars.

After that "Simeon" took him to a luxury hotel.. which alarmed "Gamal".. but he convinced him that staying here.. is a gift from the Israeli embassy.. and that Israel is kind and loves Arab youth and helps them.. and wants peace not war.. but the media constantly smears it.

And "Gamal" acted as if he believed it.

And he stayed in the hotel in a luxury room.. and for the first time he tasted with "Simeon" the mood of fine whisky.. and delicious food.

And with the wine "Gamal" talked and brought out the picture of his sweetheart to his friend "Simeon".

And the latter exploded with laughter.

And before "Gamal" could get angry.. "Simeon" told him that she is not pretty and her beauty is very modest.. and come on my son, let me show you what the women here in Athens look like.

And he took him to a soirée.. he had never seen the like of it in his life.

And he left the soirée with a woman of the night.

And her role was not to recruit him.

No.

Her role was to drain from him the price of the passport he had sold and leave him unable to find food.. as quickly as possible.

And the girl spends the night with him in his room for days.

And the girl succeeds in her role.

And at the same time "Simeon" disappears.

Completely.

And the hotel receptionist begins to tell him that he has exceeded the days his friend paid for.. and new days are piling up on him.

And he thinks of escaping.

But how would he return and where would he sleep? He does not even have a passport.

And he begins to get tense and his nerves are severely compressed.. and he cannot sleep.. and the hotel staff are annoyed as they wait for him to pay.. and they treat him with suspicion and caution.

And "Gamal" thinks of suicide.

But suddenly he is surprised in his room by a visit from another Moroccan man called "Ibrahim".. who tells him he is a friend of "Simeon".

And he pays all his hotel bills.. and pays two weeks in advance.. and gives him 200 dollars.

And "Gamal" finally sighs in utter relief. And throws himself into the arms of "Ibrahim".. who was in truth "Mordechai Horen".. one of the most skilled and dangerous Mossad officers.. in this era.

And exploiting "Gamal"'s state of weakness.. the Mossad officer comes clean with him about the truth.. and also informs him that he has no chance to refuse.. because the girl with whom he spent a pleasant time and who emptied his money.. is a known Mossad officer.. and that they photographed him with her in every position.

And if he refuses they will send the pictures to Egyptian intelligence and reveal to them that he is a spy working with them.

And his life is destroyed.

And the truth is that "Mordechai" was lying.. for if "Gamal" had informed Egyptian intelligence of his lapse.. they would have made use of him and helped him.. and his lapse would have become worthless.

But with the ease of money and the tempting offer.. he agrees.

And "Mordechai" sits with him over a bottle of fine wine.. and shows him pictures and documents of spies.. whom Egyptian and Syrian intelligence had caught.. and exchanged them with Israel for resistance men or other spies.

And that these people are now in Israel living in villas and palaces, the lives of kings.. Israel never forgets its men.

And "Gamal" agrees.

And they show him films featuring types of weapons, equipment and military vehicles.. so he learns to distinguish between them.. and they ask him to train himself to draw survey maps of military sites.. and to estimate distances and elevations accurately.. and he learns to write in invisible ink.

And they give him a weekly salary of 200 dollars.

And this was more than he had dreamed of in his entire life.

And after a month of training in Athens.. "Gamal" returns in clean new clothes.. and a wallet swollen with illicit money.

And they ask "Gamal" to lie low.. to calm down and turn into a sleeper cell.. until the right moment.

And his money comes to him regularly.. and he travels several times to training courses.

And he forgets his sweetheart and lives a life of complete debauchery.

And suddenly a message comes to him to come out of his dormancy.. and gather information.

In the year 1972.

Israel was suspicious that Egypt might be thinking of war.. so it activated all its spies.. and Egyptian intelligence men in turn became active.. to trap them.

And among those activated was "Gamal".. who set off to his relatives among the soldiers and military men, asking and investigating.. and gathering information with all enthusiasm.

And "Gamal." sat at his desk.. with a bottle of fine drink.. transferring information in invisible ink until dawn.. and slipped the papers of his message into a large envelope.. and addressed it to the address they had given him.

A Mossad office in Rome.

But all the letters at this time, to and from Egypt.. were being watched by Egyptian intelligence quietly and patiently.

And they were astonished when they opened an ordinary letter.. between whose lines there appeared to be writing with an empty pen.. leaving marks that looked like hidden, unwritten words.. on the paper.

"Gamal", drunk, pressed the pen he used to write with invisible ink onto the paper in a donkey-like way.. and the Egyptian intelligence man needed nothing more than to raise the paper to the light.. to see the trace of the writing.

And the intelligence brings out the ink in the letter.

And on the morning of the day after it was revealed.. only two days after it was sent.. "Gamal" is surprised by Egyptian intelligence men in his bedroom.. waking him roughly.. and leading him to their headquarters.

And "Gamal" confesses and is sentenced to hard labour for life.. and he leaves prison on the threshold of his seventies.. in the mid-nineties...

And no one hears of him after that.

But he continues to hold the title of the dumbest spy.

The Israeli spy who fell without sending a single message. Before he even began his spying career.
