We are still with the history of the Ottoman State.. and a passing note we write in an objection post.. for the people enchanted by "Ertuğrul" for some incomprehensible reason.. and taking his history from a "TV series".. as though it were historical fact.
The Tatars marched on most of the countries of the old world.. and subjugated them.. and the kings of these countries were either killed in a humiliating manner.. or surrendered and knelt and offered the duties of obedience and loyalty.. and presented their women as a salute to the Tatars.. so they left them alone on condition of paying tribute.
The Tatars brought down Korea, China, Iraq, Iran, the Levant and so on.. most of Asia, Russia and Eastern Europe.. except for only five places in the world.
These five places are (1) the islands we know today as Nippon.. or Japan.. and the inhabitants of these islands are, from time immemorial, a fiercely ferocious fighting people with a special creed in defending their homeland. And Japan's ruler at the time, "Hojo Tokimune", refused even to receive the Mongols' envoys.. and when the Mongols tried to invade the country by force.. he had prepared for them a vast army of fighters counted among the most skilled and ferocious fighters in history.. and the most proficient of them in the use of the sword.
The samurai fighters.
A samurai, by the way, when he was defeated would rip open his belly with his sword. Japan's fighter is either victorious or dead. In an incident recorded by the Chinese.. in the Japanese-Chinese war.. a Chinese commander was taken captive with his men.. so he said to the Japanese officer in plea:
"Take care of my men.. for they are brave soldiers."
So the officer replied to him seriously:
"These are no longer men.. they are merely prisoners"...!
Meaning if you are taken captive you are considered, in their creed, not a man at all.. who is going to occupy a country defended by fighters like these in direct combat? Consequently the Tatars could not enter Japan's borders.. and found that war there would bleed them dry.. so they turned away from it and continued on their way.
And the second region that escaped the Mongols was (2) Western Europe.. and this was saved by the blessing of the parents' prayers and nothing more.. because the Mongols entered Poland and reached the borders of Austria.. and days before storming it.. news reached the Mongol army of the death of their emperor "Ögedei Khan" on 11 December 1241.
And the strict Mongol law stipulated that at this moment all army commanders must.. assemble at the empire immediately to choose and pledge allegiance to the new Khan.
And this new Khan was, to Europe's good fortune.. of a different view.. and showed not the slightest interest in Europe.. and decided to march on China. And (3) China was extremely rugged and intricate.. and exhausted the Mongol reconnaissance forces with many tricks and guerrilla wars.. so they decided to postpone its conquest for later.
And (4) India.. under the leadership of "Ghiyath al-Din Balban".. the ninth sultan of the Mamluks of India.. whose horsemen and infantry the Mongols had already defeated.. so he brought out against them a new weapon.. that the Mongol leaders had never dealt with before.. and could not find any solution for.
The weapon of elephants.
"Ghiyath al-Din" enlisted thousands of elephants.. which he armoured with metal plates and bands.. and fitted iron sheaths over their tusks reinforced with steel blades.. so with their strong armour and terrifying tusks.. they became like living tanks.. one strike from them kills dozens of horsemen at once.. in addition to the archers or lance-throwers who were on their backs.
A living nightmare that is not stopped by rugged terrain, nor water, nor anything else.. roughly like the picture with this post.
The Mongols could never again engage "Ghiyath al-Din" in direct confrontation because of this elephant weapon.. the sound of the elephants in the first place frightened the Mongols' horses, which were not used to it nor familiar with it.. and it would break apart the Mongol cavalry formations.
And (5) finally.. Egypt. And in Egypt there was a direct confrontation, infantry against infantry and horsemen against horsemen.
And this time.. it was the crushing defeat of the Tatars.. and not only did they defeat them.. no, they set off after them in the opposite direction.. up to the middle of Asia.. and annihilated the Tatar army and the Anatolian army together at the "Battle of Elbistan".. and nothing remained of it but the "Golden Horde".. whose emir embraced Islam and called himself "Berke Khan" to protect himself and his men from the Egyptians.. we will talk about this story in detail in this series, God willing.
Let us go back a little.. "Ain Jalut" in Egypt under the leadership of "Saif al-Din Qutuz".. was on the third of September in the year 1260 AD.
"Ertuğrul Ghazi" was at that time a king, a ruler and a commander in Anatolia. And he died about a quarter of a century after the battle of "Ain Jalut".. in the year 1281 AD.
Where was "Ertuğrul" the fierce Ghazi, the terrifying hero, and "Osman I" and the rest of the series' brave heroes.. when the Mongols marched through Anatolia and entered the Levant?
Think for a few seconds.. where was he?
The truth is that "Ertuğrul", the terrifying, daring, bold hero.. as the Mongol forces approached.. went out to them carrying his shroud in his hand.. and presented them with money and jewels and more than five thousand fighters and 700 women as a gift.
Sorry, review the previous sentence once more.. in case you did not notice it.. "Ertuğrul" handed the women to the Mongols as a gift.. to protect himself and his throne.
A surprise.. right?
With this behaviour of course.. the Mongols were pleased with him.. and passed through his land.. which they allowed him to remain emir over.. on condition of paying tribute.. the truth is that Anatolia at that time was among the "tribute-paying states".. which surrendered to the Mongols.. and not only that.. the Anatolian army served under the Mongols' command.. and fought with them.. and was against the Egyptian army led by "al-Zahir Baybars" at the "Battle of Elbistan".
Did you see then that they are laughing at you.. with a silly TV series.. that makes you, if you sat with anyone who understands history.. or used his brain for a few minutes.. and you spoke to him about the great, brave "Ertuğrul".. appear before him as someone who understands nothing?
Did you see how history is falsified in people's minds and collective conscience?
Today you take pride in the traitor who handed over his women to the Mongols and opened the way for them and supplied them with money and soldiers.. and you mock the army that defeated them.
What a freak they have turned you into, my friend!
Did you believe that your mind is being tampered with?
As long as you believed.. and began to use your brain.. then I salute you.. and this time let me take you along as we look at the history of "Ertuğrul" himself from childhood.. and after him "Osman I".
And these stories would take long to tell.. so we will continue them together at a later time.
And the talk.. has a remainder.
