Sophia.. the humanoid robot, and the idea of artificial intelligence.. and its uses and applications..
In psychology there is a particular phobia, for people who are afraid of robotics, robots, or artificial intelligence; you find these people attacking any topic or books or article or machine of this kind, or anyone working in this field, for no reason..
This phobia is called "Robotaphobia".. and fortunately it has a psychological treatment..
Among the applications of artificial intelligence that you see in the video.. the robotic surgeon.. the robotic surgeon does not replace the human surgeon.. but he carries out his orders from a distance.. like a ship exploring the pole and one of its crew needs surgery.. a spaceship and an astronaut in need of urgent surgery.. a sailor aboard a nuclear submarine at the North Pole and his appendix is about to burst..
The robotic surgeon lets us benefit from the experience of the skilled surgeon who has grown very old and is no longer able to perform operations, or who has been afflicted by an illness that made his hand tremble, for example.. the robotic surgeon carries out the human surgeon's orders and sometimes reads his eye movements and applies them, and it is possible through a certain device to read his thoughts, and carry them out..
In the second reference you will find a video of a robot in the shape of a snake, and a robot in the shape of a butterfly.. and others.. and you ask yourself "what exactly is the use of these robots"?
These robots help humans in many fields and problems.. they crawl through the rubble and reach earthquake victims alive and pinpoint their location for the rescue men.. they reach those trapped in a burning building and alert the fireman.. and they slip into the den of terrorists or criminals and transmit images of their weapons and equipment to the security men..
They let you detect mines.. study animals and their behaviour.. explore new places no human has reached before, like forgotten caves or volcano craters..
The Americans once designed a robot in the shape of a mouse, which was supposed to slip into Russian intelligence, and transmit with two eyes that were elaborate cameras whatever was going on inside, and with artificial intelligence it would escape and hide like a mouse if it faced certain problems..
But before this little robot reached the "KGB" building.. a taxi driving past the building in front of it happened to run over it and crush it.. and its remains fell into the hands of the Russian intelligence men themselves..
In the second video we see very small robots.. microscopic.. "Nano-robots" and these are injected inside the body and search for cancer cells and kill them.. or inject the pancreas, for example, with a stimulant.. or remove a certain tumour.. or treat a severed artery, or other things..
But science is always a double-edged weapon, and if it is used wrongly it leads to frightening results..
Like nuclear energy for example.. it can let you light thousands of homes and hospitals and schools and treat thousands of patients.. and it can turn into a weapon that annihilates several cities in a moment, and kills millions without distinguishing between a fighter and an infant child..
"Elon Musk" the CEO of "Tesla".. was one of the supporters of artificial intelligence, until he attended an experiment with a robot named "Atlas" at a leading robotics company called "Boston Dynamics"...
"Atlas", the one in this third video, is like Sophia.. humanoid.. Sophia's artificial intelligence is advanced beyond "Atlas" by stages.. but while Sophia walks on wheels with human assistance and her general composition is weak.. "Atlas"'s capabilities are much higher than Sophia's..
"Atlas in Greek mythology" used to carry the heavens on his shoulders.. and he tricked "Hercules" and made him carry them instead of him, and decided to escape from that responsibility.. but Hercules in turn deceived him with a clever trick and made him carry them again and left him and walked away..
That is exactly the goal of "Boston Dynamics".. that Atlas carries heavy responsibilities in every aspect of life.. he becomes a policeman.. an army fighter.. a construction worker.. an engineer.. a doctor.. a translator.. etc...
"Elon" saw Atlas performing an impressive jump.. one that no human could do except someone specially trained.. and he realised that "Atlas" could be armed.. and with artificial intelligence could develop his decisions or take new decisions by himself, and here.. panic over the idea struck him.. and he began to fight artificial intelligence..
The idea that you fight artificial intelligence today is as if you are standing in front of a rushing, speeding train.. in addition to the fact that "Elon", despite being a great inventor and a successful businessman and a billionaire.. is somehow impersonating the character of "Tony Stark" in "Iron man".. arrogant, selfish, haughty, condescending, devoid of feelings.. to the point that many people have noticed that "Elon" imitates the fictional character "Stark" in his manner and behaviour..
This whole affair made scientists recoil from "Elon" and avoid dialogue with him in any form except when absolutely necessary.. and therefore today he is almost calling the call to prayer in Malta.. and nobody turns to look at him..
But if you watched the fourth video you would know that "Elon"'s fears are, to a large extent.. well founded..
In this video there is a clip of a drone.. the word "Drone" originally means "robot".. but because the name of the male bee that comes out of an unfertilised egg is "Drone", it came to be applied more to flying robots or "Unmanned aerial vehicle"..
The drone in the video is small and carries a few grams of explosive material.. it flies in a "Swarm".. and it recognises the faces of its victims with a kind of artificial intelligence.. and kills them..
The worst part is that this drone is available to the public.. you yourself can buy it.. it is sold by a company called "Strato Energetics".. and the whole world is talking about it now..
Why is no one using this drone at present? Because it is very fragile.. and you have to be very close to the victim before you fly it, because its battery gives it two minutes and a bit of flight.. and because any waves jam it and bring it down, even Wi-Fi waves or mobile devices, if it falls within their range properly..
But this is a frightening signal of what will exist "tomorrow".. when the drone makers overcome these faults..
"Elon" is now calling for the abolition of artificial intelligence from the world of armament completely.. but how can you do that? The time has already passed..
Will you prevent a fighter jet from detecting a missile and launching a defensive system against it on its own? Will you prevent military satellites? All of these are applications of artificial intelligence..
There is an entire planet in the Solar System whose inhabitants are machines only, up to this very moment.. machines that operate on artificial intelligence..
Mars..
Did anyone notice this observation? Everyone living on Mars is a machine.. like the "Mars Rover".. they take samples of the soil and photograph and send data and address the Earth with it..
What are the limits of this problem and its solution?
We will talk about that later, and the talk will have more to come..
