This lady is Jordanian Arab, and her beloved husband is fighting for his life, inside a fighter jet, in a terrifying struggle in the air, over Syrian territory.
January 1973.. and the Israeli fighters set off towards the Syrian depth.. to bomb army camps, artillery positions, and perhaps some civilian targets.. a school, a clothes workshop.. just as they did in Egypt at the Abu Zaabal factory and the children's school of Bahr El-Baqar.
The point is that her husband is in the air, in one of two fighters, firing at another, whose pilot dodged the bullets with skill.. and fired at the enemy fighter in turn.
And the Israeli fighter turned around itself.. and dodged the fire.. and straightened out, and opened fire towards the Syrian fighter.
And once again, the Syrian pilot dodged the bullets, and shot off with his fighter in a straight line, and the Israeli plane cut through the air behind it at astonishing speed in insistence.
And on the ground the observers halted the Syrian air defences, because at that time the Syrian missiles only followed engine heat, and there were no smart missiles like today.. and they feared they might bring down their own pilot.. and they watched the aerial battle in anxiety.
Only 120 seconds.. and the Syrian pilot enters Israeli airspace.
And he is bombed...
And he falls without mercy.
And the distance between the two fighters closes at astonishing speed.. and the Israeli presses behind the Syrian.. and his finger moves to press the fire button.
But the Syrian pilot suddenly shoots upwards.. and turns his plane upside down, then straightens out.
He straightens out directly behind the Israeli fighter.
And he presses the missile launch button.
And of course you imagined that the lady's husband had won, and sent his rival to hell.
But the truth is that her husband was not the Syrian pilot.
He was the Israeli!
And of course that must lead us to the story from its beginning.
Her name is "Amina Daoud Muhammad Al-Mufti". Jordanian, from an ancient family of great standing and very wealthy.
Her father was the biggest jewellery merchant in Amman, and perhaps in all of Jordan, while her uncle was a general in the royal court.. and her mother was a well-known and famous society lady.
When she finishes secondary school, her father decides to send her abroad, to study psychiatry at the university in Vienna, the capital of Austria.. in 1957.. and there.. the journey begins.
And the fall begins.
"Amina", despite her culture, was swept away in Europe, and appeared like a naive village girl dazzled by the lights of the city. So she began to cut herself off from her lectures and lessons, and live a life of complete frivolity.
And "Amina" spent two years between bars and nightclubs and romantic trips.. and returned to Jordan.. to visit her family.
And in Jordan she lied to her father, and convinced him that she was passing with distinction.. while her grades were very weak.. and she was barely passing.
And then "Amina" decided to really focus and pass.. and then amuse herself at leisure afterwards.
And indeed she finishes her studies.. after five years.. and her father summons her to come back. But she convinces him that she has decided to study for a doctorate.. and the study period is two years.. and within herself she had decided to spend those two years in amusement and frivolity.
And her father is filled with pride.. and sends her the money she asks for.
And in Austria, in a nightclub, "Amina" meets a Jewish girl, sitting with a tall, handsome, blond, muscular young man.
And this young man was the girl's brother.. and he was a pilot captain in the Austrian Air Force.
And "Amina" befriends the girl, after falling in love with her brother.
Captain "Moshe Perad".
And they live a full, intimate love story, and two years pass.. and her father sends asking about the doctorate certificate.
And "Moshe" helps his beloved "Amina".. and forges for her a fake doctorate certificate in psychiatry.
And the father feels pride.. and boasts of his daughter before everyone.. and writes to her and asks her to return.
But "Amina" does not return.
At that time she was changing her name from "Amina Muhammad" to "Annie Moshe Perad".. and changing her religion to Judaism; and marrying "Moshe" officially in the "Shimudt" Jewish temple in Vienna.. in the year that no one can forget, in the history of the Arabs with Israel.
The year 1967.
And news of the happy wedding reaches the esteemed father in Jordan.
And the poor father almost suffered a heart attack.
And in fact.. he did suffer it.. and woke up in the hospital after they saved his life by a miracle.
And when he recovers and remembers.. he is filled with rage.. and summons his men.. and orders them immediately to travel to Vienna.. and bring "Amina" back to Jordan alive, or...
Or dead.
And her mother tries to change his mind.. but he considers his daughter a traitor.. and insists with determination.
And the mother calls the daughter and blames her and rebukes her.. and then warns her that her father's men have set off after her.
And "Amina" flees from one city to another in Austria.. in a strange chase.. that lasted until 1972.. and she grows tired of fleeing.. so she convinces her husband to emigrate to Israel.. since they are Jews.
And the matter is indeed done, in the same year.
And in Israel her husband joins the air force.. and carries out operations in Syria.
At that time the Egyptian deep-strike operations had stopped. Because the late President "Gamal Abdel Nasser" travelled in January, 1970.. and brought from the Soviet Union an advanced air defence system.. with which a formidable missile wall was built.. that made Egyptian skies forbidden to Israeli aviation.
So much so that "Golda Meir" at the time halted all Egyptian deep-strike operations because the Israeli aviation that used to approach.. did not come back.. and she said to a local newspaper about President "Gamal" in fury:
"The peasant, instead of plants.. planted his land with missiles".
And at the same time Egyptian intelligence was unusually active.. collecting all the information it could collect.. in preparation for an hour they knew was coming.. but they did not yet know when the leadership would decide it.
The hour of war.
And automatically.. intelligence opens a file for every important officer in Israel.. including Israeli air force pilots.. and a file is placed on the shelf for the pilot "Moshe Perad".. and all information about him.. for a time of need.
And "Amina" or "Annie" lives with her husband in Israel in happiness.. and because of the missile wall.. the deep strikes are confined to the Syrian front.. which used to repel them with interceptor fighters.. and ground anti-aircraft guns.
Until January 1973.
The day on which we return to the scene with which we began our story.
"Moshe" in his American fighter tries to bring down a Russian MiG plane flown by a Syrian pilot, but the latter carries out a sudden manoeuvre.. and puts him in the line of fire.
And the Syrian pilot in his fighter presses, without hesitation, the missile launch button.
And the missile shoots out like a deadly thunderbolt dragging behind it a long tail of flame.. while the Syrian pilot swerves his fighter to the right with skill, and at astonishing speed to avoid the explosion.
And the missile hit its target.
And "Moshe's" plane exploded.
And it plunged burning with him inside it, from the heights of the sky.
And the news reaches his wife "Annie".. and she suffers a complete breakdown.. after which she immerses herself in drinking wine for a period.
And then she decides to surpass herself
And take revenge.
And immediately she sets off to the Mossad building.. and asks them to cooperate with them as a spy.
And they agree because they knew her.. and Mossad experts begin training her with the utmost precision and professionalism.
And after training their orders are issued and "Annie" sets off to Lebanon.. and works as a volunteer in the refugee camps in Beirut.
And she begins to deal as a doctor in the field hospitals.. treating the wounded Palestinians.. and secretly injecting poison into the veins of any resistance member.. whom the Mossad orders her to eliminate.. without anyone noticing.
And she continues her voluntary work with dedication and sincerity.. to the point that the late President "Yasser Arafat" himself praised her.. and brought her close to him.
And the Mossad experts almost jumped for joy.
The plan succeeded.
And "Annie" is now close to the Palestinian leadership, and has a special permit from "Yasser Arafat" himself, enabling her to enter all Palestinian sites as a skilled national volunteer doctor.. helping to heal the wounded and treat them.
And "Annie" begins from her position and her closeness to the leaders.. monitoring the movements of Palestinian leaders and important resistance members.
She even succeeds in guiding and facilitating the bombing of the resistance camps that she used to enter to give first aid to the wounded.. and then sends their locations to the Mossad with the utmost precision.
And her success increased.. to the point that she succeeded in facilitating the assassination of the famous resistance man whom the Mossad hated with madness, "Ali Hassan Salameh", in Beirut.
But the assassination of "Ali Hassan Salameh" was preceded by a failed operation.. carried out by the Mossad wrongly.. while they were trying to kill him in Norway.. because the Mossad men in Norway made a mistake with "Salameh's" disguise and his skill at being recognised.. and they watched and monitored instead of him an innocent Moroccan man, a family father working in an ordinary profession, as a waiter in a restaurant.. whose name was "Ahmed Bouchiki".. and they opened fire on him.. and during their escape they fell into the hands of the Norwegian authorities.
And automatically.. Egyptian intelligence, through its agents in Europe, went to gather information.. and connect the threads.. and study the Norway operation with attention.. as part of its work in learning from the mistakes of other intelligence services.. especially the hostile ones.
And Egyptian intelligence connects all the threads and.. and reaches the bereaved, vengeful wife.. "Annie".
And immediately.. Egyptian intelligence sends all the information about "Annie".. to the late "Yasser Arafat" directly.
And they try to arrest "Annie".. and she is imprisoned and they begin interrogating her.. but after a short period she succeeds in escaping.. and she was subjected to a terrible chase in which she put up violent resistance.. and she comes out of it with a broken jaw and smashed teeth.. and she immediately sets off by land, fleeing to Israel.. in a long journey.. during which she went through bitter torment from her injuries.
And she succeeded in crossing the border.. and there the Mossad men received her.. and they treated and rebuilt her jaw and fitted her with artificial teeth.. and performed cosmetic surgery on her, changing her features.. and gave her a new identity.
And in Israel, after she was burned as a spy.. they employed her as a doctor.. in a centre for treating psoriasis.. on a meagre salary.
She cannot manage to live and calls her family in Jordan.. but they tell her not to come back and not to contact them.. and that her father had years ago already held a symbolic funeral for her.. and set up a mourning tent.. and announced the death of "Amina".. and that he knows no one named "Annie".
She tries to contact the Mossad to give her a pension or offer her a good job.. but they ignore her completely.
She goes back to drinking from her meagre income.. and neglects her work so they dismiss her.. and she moves and works in a centre attached to a hotel for treating skin diseases.. then she moves to Nazareth.
And there, with no shelter, no work and no money.. she meets an Arab lady.. married to a mosque imam imprisoned on charges of incitement against Israel in his sermons.. and she tells her her story.
And the lady feels compassion for her.. and gives her money.. and houses her and feeds her and takes care of her.
And at that point.. the Mossad appears suddenly.. and they arrest her and interrogate her harshly.. and then they let her go.
And she falls for a wealthy Israeli-American man.. who spends on her generously.. and she opens a clinic.. and her conditions improve.. and she becomes wealthy a second time.. within a few years.
And in the end, after Israel signed the peace agreement with Jordan.. she returns to Jordan.. but her family does not recognise her.. and when they recognised her.. they did not welcome her.
But after long years and repeated visits and insistence.. they forgave her.. and she went back to visiting them regularly until 2008.. when she discovered she had cancer.. so she wrote a will in which she bequeathed all her money to the family of the Arab imam whose wife had honoured her.
And she returned to Jordan.. and died there at the age of about 70.
They decided to make a documentary film about "Amina's" story that refers to her fall, called "The Curse of Ahmed Bouchiki". The Moroccan family father whom they killed by mistake.
But the name seemed heavy on the tongue of the Western viewer.. so they merged it with the name of the operation that the Mossad gave it before carrying it out in Norway.
Operation Lillehammer.
And "The Lillehammer Curse" was released in 2023.. about the story of "Amina Daoud Muhammad Al-Mufti".
Or.. "Annie Moshe".
