With one of the most famous spies who changed history, "Oleg Vladimirovich Penkovsky".. and the information he provided to the Americans.. that the Soviet Union, in turn.. is building bases for its missiles with nuclear warheads in Cuba.. and that the bases have been built and the parts have already been shipped.. and are supposed to be assembled, and by the time the United States finds out, it will be too late.

And "Oleg" specifies the locations of the bases and their areas with extreme precision.. and with the terrifying message, the hair on the head of one of the American intelligence men stands on end, and he rushes to his safe and pulls out of it the pictures of the American spy planes, and the hair on the heads of the rest stands on end, and the faded pictures now look to them clear and plain.

These are missile bases without any doubt.. and it is clear that they are already ready to receive the Soviet missiles.. and this means that the Soviet Union can, from Cuba, bomb America with missiles carrying nuclear warheads and turn it into a heap of ashes within hours.

And the Americans try to address the Cubans so that they dismantle the missile bases, but "Castro" refuses insistently.. and informs his Soviet allies.. who realize that the game has been exposed, and that some spy has betrayed the plan, so they contact one of their most important agents in America and the most secret and dangerous of them.

"Jack Dunlap".. an extremely skilled Soviet spy, planted in the heart of American intelligence.. the Soviets task him with finding out who exposed the secret of the Cuban missile bases.

And while "Dunlap" is working.. the Americans consider invading Cuba a second time by sea.. and then they drop the idea and think of bombing it with missiles.. then they dropped the idea as well, and decided to impose a military blockade on Cuba, with a comprehensive sea and air siege on its territory.

And at the same moment, "Kennedy" wrote a letter to the President of the Soviet Union "Krotseyev" - that is "Khrushchev" - that he would impose a comprehensive blockade on Cuba.. and that he demanded that he dismantle these missile bases peacefully.

But "Krotseyev's" reply pushed matters in an extremely dangerous direction, because he replied to "Kennedy".. that any blockade of Cuba, and any ban on navigation in international waters or airspace constitutes an act of aggression, which may push humanity to the abyss of a global nuclear missile war".

And the Soviets publicly reject all American demands.

And this means that matters are escalating to a new curve.. a third world war.. nuclear.

And at the same time, the skilled spy "Jack Dunlap" succeeds in uncovering the identity of the spy who sold out the Soviets, and exposed their secrets.. and this time the hair on the heads of the Soviet intelligence men stands on end, when they discover that it is their dear and powerful man.. General "Oleg".

And the matter is raised to the President of the Soviet Union personally.. and one hour later, on 22 October, of the year 1962.. the intelligence men storm "Oleg's" house, and arrest him.. .. before "Kennedy" delivers a speech to the American people, in which he displays pictures of the Soviet missile bases.

And "Oleg" had an American handler officer following him in the heart of the Soviet Union.. he learns at once of the news of his arrest, and tries to send a message that appeared to the Americans.. but the Soviet intelligence men arrest him in turn, and with his fall most of the network is exposed.

With the fall of "Oleg" and his revealing of the terrifying information he had leaked before the Soviet President, the President realizes that he has lost this war before it began, and that he has lost the element of surprise and secrecy and suddenness, and the Americans have become fully ready for him.. so he responds to the American request by removing the Cuban missile bases on condition that the United States pledges not to invade Cuba and that it quietly disposes of the ballistic "Thor" missiles in Britain and the "Jupiter" missiles in Turkey.

As for "Oleg".. he was brought to trial, and sentenced to death, and was actually executed, on 16 May 1963, although there are obscure reports saying that he was not actually executed.. and that "Krotseyev" threw him into the terrible Siberian camp, until he killed himself because of the harsh conditions and ill treatment in the year 1965.

Many experts see that "Oleg" saved the world from a nuclear war that would inevitably have happened, had the Americans discovered the Cuban missiles too late.. and in America he is still called to this day "The spy who saved the world".

The story of "Oleg" and the missile crisis is different from the way in which the "Cambridge Five" fell, whom we will talk about later.

And the talk will have a remainder.
