The Bar Lev Line: Why It Was Not Sand, and Was Not Destroyed by Water Hoses

The Bar Lev defensive line, Bar Lev Line.. it was not sand.. and it was not destroyed by water hoses.

That is a common mistake.

The Bar Lev Line was barracks and rooms and pillboxes of concrete and steel.. packed with soldiers and weapons and vehicles and the means of subsistence.

The sandbank, or the earthen embankment, that was opened with water is the front face of the Bar Lev Line.. its height around 25 meters and at a steep angle.. supposedly preventing attack on it by infantry and vehicles and troop carriers.

And beneath the waters of the Suez Canal, along the line, there were special pipes, with wide nozzles, that released, according to the Israelis' wish, a burning liquid that turned the water into hell and blazing embers, a mixture of fuel and napalm and oils and other substances.

In order to neutralize these pipes we inevitably had to obtain a sample of the burning substance.. and indeed Egyptian intelligence sent one of our men to Tel Aviv.. and he managed to obtain a sample of the substance like a ghost without anyone noticing, from the vaults of the Mossad.. in a terrifying, unknown operation.. no one knows its details to this very day.

And after analyzing the substance.. we made a special counter-substance for it.

And the nozzles of these pipes were sealed by the men of the frogmen stealthily before the crossing with that special substance, the most like latex.. and it solidifies under the water after a little while.. and becomes stronger than cement.

In order that these frogmen would not be detected, we were forced to carry out a very distant insertion for them.. it is likely that it was at the entrance to Aqaba.. and they would swim under the water for tens of kilometers and reach the target.. and return by the same method.

If any one of these operations had been detected, it would have been known that the hour of the crossing was near.

And what is also striking; is that the idea of dismantling the earthen embankment with water had actually been tried by Israel in Tel Aviv.. and it failed...

But we had secretly bought from the Soviet Union special pumps and hoses.. with a terrifying propulsive force, exceeding by hundreds of times.. the pumps of the Israeli experiments.

The Bar Lev Line cost approximately 500 million dollars. And this was a sum that equaled more than half of the American defense budget for them in one go at the time.
